Discovering the Unsung Heroes of New India

Shruthi Reddy of West Bengal, Tana Sumpa of Arunachal Pradesh, Kadivendi Mahipal Chary of Telengana are not alone. They are amongst the 59 winners of The National Entrepreneurship Awards hosted annually by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) since 2016. In the last 3 years the Ministry has transformed many lives by highlighting the achievement of outstanding entrepreneurs emerging from various socio-economic backgrounds and geographies and projecting them as local heroes. The farsighted vision of our Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, has already started bearing fruits in every nook and corner of this country through this initiative.

The products and services created by these Unsung Heroes are unheard of till now .This has ranged from humanitarian services like, most professionally packaged Funeral Services based enterprise to Product meant to aspire the youth for precision agriculture by making the field agri-operations efficient and drudgery free.

What is striking about these products and services is not only innovative thinking, but how their innovations have touched and transformed the lives of hundreds of people all around them. This positive energy is infectious and it gets amplified significantly by creating a macro environment of positivity and optimism. This is the New India that we are collectively surging towards The Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship is an active stakeholder to take it to greater heights by encouraging the youth across the length and breadth of India, through the National Entrepreneurship Awards.

The MSDE is not alone in its endeavour. Twelve credible partners including IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, XLRI, TISS, NSIC, IIT Guwahati, IRMA, MANAGE, NIF, NABARD, and RSETI spread across India assist the Ministry. These partners through their  concerted ground efforts  have tried to reach to the last mile through road shows; targeted workshops  at MSME Expos, incubators, co-working spaces; and various gatherings of the stakeholders in the entrepreneurship eco system has borne fruit. The committed support of Central Ministries and the State Governments seamlessly helped the Ministry in strategic mobilisation of the applicants from across the geographies of the country.

A total of 45 awards proposed to be won in 3 categories based on an initial investment upto Rs 1 Lakh, 10 Lakh and Rs 1 Crore. This way, MSDE left no stone unturned to garner entries of young entrepreneurs (up to the age of 40 years) and eco system builders from across sectors, geographies and socio-economic categories.

With this committed endeavour, MSDE looks forward to bring out the best of the young entrepreneurs and eco system builders in the country and showcase them as models of excellence for others to look upto and emulate.
