Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually lays the Foundation Stone for the Critical Care Block at Rims, Imphal

To bolster healthcare infrastructure in Manipur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone for the construction of a 150-bedded Critical Care Block at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Imphal. The ceremony, held on Monday, 25th February 2024, marked a milestone in the implementation of the Prime Minister – Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission.

A formal program was also organized at RIMS Imphal to commemorate the occasion and was attended by Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Union Minister of State for Education and External Affairs- Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan, MP (Outer) of Manipur- Dr. Lorho S Pfoze, MLAs, and senior government officials.

The project has been sanctioned with a budget of Rs. 120 crore, indicating a significant investment in healthcare infrastructure in the region. The Critical Care Block is designed to function as a sealed/isolated unit during outbreaks of infections while serving as an integral part of the main hospital during normal times. The construction will consist of a G+4 storey building with a total plinth area of 12440 sq. metre. The construction of this Critical Care Block signifies a significant step towards strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Manipur, with a focus on providing advanced medical facilities to the residents of the region. It reflects the government’s commitment to improving healthcare access and preparedness for future health emergencies.

The inauguration of the Critical Care Block at RIMS Imphal underlines Prime Minister Modi’s vision for a healthier and more resilient India, as envisioned through the Prime Minister – Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission.
