The Ministry of Women and Child Development had organized a Badge Design competition for Gender Champions through the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao page on MyGov portal. The competition was made live on 17th July 2015 and the last date for submission of entry was 30th July 2015.

The Government of India envisages Gender Champions to be identified in all schools and colleges across the country. They can be both boys and girls enrolled in educational institutions. This is a joint initiative of Ministry of Women and Child Development and Ministry of Human Resource Development.

Gender Champions are envisaged as responsible leaders who will facilitate an enabling environment within their schools/ colleges/ academic institutions where girls are treated with respect and dignity. They will strengthen the potential of young girls and boys to advocate for gender equality and monitor progress towards gender justice.

The Ministry has received an overwhelming response for this competition. The entries were shortlisted by a Screening Committee with representatives from both the Ministries. Based on the identified criteria for selection of the badge, the Ministry is happy to announce Mr Kalpesh Uppin as the winner for the Badge Design Competition. The winning prize money is ₹ 5,000/-.
