Engineering students to startup entrepreneurs

The India Innovation Challenge Design Contest (IICDC), launched by Texas Instruments India in association with the Department Of Science And Technology and Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) provides young tech entrepreneurs with an ecosystem and support to nurture their entrepreneurial spirit and an opportunity to leverage their talent and convert their innovation to a startup. IICDC 2017 has witnessed some of the brightest engineering minds of the country giving shape to their innovative ideas by engineering path-breaking solutions.

This year the contest has garnered participation across all the states in India, from 965 colleges and 15380 enthusiastic students, of these 510 teams made it through to the Quarter Finals. 62 teams of student innovators moved up to the semifinal stage; 29 of whom showcased their innovations in Bangalore and rest of the participants presented their revolutionary ideas in Noida. The semifinals for India Innovation Challenge was conducted at
Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore on June 4th , 2018 and
Amity University, Noida on June 9th, 2018.

The aforementioned energy and enthusiasm of the students were on full display during the semifinals as they presented their product and their business plans which were solution to several socially relevant problems.

The panel of evaluators at the event comprised of Business experts from NSRCEL, IIM Bangalore and Technical experts from TI. Whilst Business experts evaluated the ideas, prototypes and strategies put forth by the aspiring entrepreneurs against a framework encompassing Business, Technology and Innovation, the Technical experts evaluated the ideas on Completeness, Innovation and Impact factors.

The grand finals will be held at IIM Bangalore in August 2018 where the top ten innovative ideas will be chosen to script their chapters in the Make in India story.
