Announcing Winners of Suggestions and Recommendations for Police Reforms in India

Rashtriya Raksha University– RRU (www.rru.ac.in) is India’s premier public University in the field of national security and policing. RRU serves the academic, research, and training needs of the paramilitary and police forces of the country. Through the Rashtriya Raksha University Act, 2020, the University was elevated to the status of an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

Objective for Organising the Competition

School of Internal Security and Police Administration, Rashtriya Raksha University aimed to create a positive atmosphere for discussion on the topic of Police Reforms. Police Reforms has been a debatable topic since Independence. The most compressive report on Police Reforms was submitted by Nation Police Commission from 1979-81. On 22nd September 2006, the landmark Judgment by Honourable Supreme Court on Prakash Singh and Ors v. Union of India and Ors, where it gave Seven Directive for Central as well as state government to be implemented for police reforms. Fourteen years has passed and still there are calls for major reforms in police sectors and pending implementation of directive by various State Governments.

This National Level Competition was organised to recapitulate the concept of Police Reforms and inculcate the values and knowledge regarding function of police to motivate younger generation.

Entries for the completion were received from MyGov Platform as well as direct entries to the University. A total of 664 Entries were received as a part of the competition. Highest participation was received from the state of Tamil Nadu.
