Semifinals of DST and Texas Instruments Inc. India Innovation Challenge Design Contest 2016

India is at the helm of helping the world address some of its biggest challenges. With incredible engineering talent at our disposal, India has an immense opportunity to create game-changing solutions that can help millions around the globe. DST and Texas Instruments Inc. with support from MyGov and DIPP have launched India Innovation Challenge Design Contest 2016 (IICDC 2016) which is anchored by IIM Bangalore. This contest is one such initiative where these young engineering students can use their scientific curiosity and technical skills to usher in a new era of tech-led entrepreneurship in India, contribute to the country’s manufacturing ecosystem and Government’s vision of Make In India

Top teams in the India Innovation Challenge 2016 will get an opportunity to incubate their startups at IIMB’s reputed incubation center, the Nadathur S. Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (NSRCEL). The DST will provide funding of INR 3.5 crore to the student startups, which will go toward the product development fund of INR 1.5 crore and seed fund of INR 2 crore for the top teams to incubate their start-ups.

The contest has garnered participation from ~11000 students from 624 colleges spanning across 25 states of the country. Of these 428 teams were selected for the Quarterfinals of the contest. These teams received support from TI and IIMB to convert their idea into a product prototype and Top 54 teams were selected as semifinalists for India Innovation Challenge 2016.

Semifinals of India Innovation Challenge 2016

The semifinals for India Innovation Challenge will be conducted at

  1. Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore on April 15, 2017 and
  2. BML Munjal University, Gurgaon on April 22th, 2017.

During the semifinals event the student teams will pitch their product to the panel of evaluators from IIM Bangalore. The teams will also have an opportunity to showcase their hardware product prototype through an exhibit booth to all the evaluators and visitors during the semifinals. Results of semifinals will be announced in May 2017.

India Innovation challenge is an initiative where we enable engineering students to bring their ideas to life by creating innovative solutions for society while gaining invaluable technical knowledge in the processleading Indian engineering students from Idea to Invention to industry and help them become successful entrepreneurs of tomorrow.
