Developmental projects launched in Kedarnath
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Kedarnath on 20th October, 2017. This is the Prime Minister’s second visit this year to the holy site and a significant one.
Launching development projects with far reaching positive consequences, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for five infrastructure projects. The projects are an effort to rebuild the site after the floods as well as to ensure development in the area. The projects include development of retaining wall and ghat on the Mandakini River as well as development of retaining wall and ghat on Saraswati River.
Plans have also been made to construct the main approach to Kedarnath Temple, development of Shankaracharya Kutir and Shankaracharya Museum. For the benefit of people living there, efforts are being made to construct and develop houses for Kedarnath Purohits. During the visit, the Prime Minister was briefed on the Kedarpuri Reconstruction Project.
During his address to the gathering, the Prime Minister expressed happiness to be present in Kedarnath after the festival of Diwali. He said that the start of a New Year is being celebrated in Gujarat and conveyed his greetings for the occasion.
The Prime Minister said that the service of the people is the service of God and he affirmed his devotion to the dream of developed India by 2022. As the country will mark 75 years of freedom, a new and developed India will be forging ahead.
In regard to the launch of new development projects, the Prime Minister said that through this work, it will be evident how an ideal “place of pilgrimage” should be. The development is being done in relation to amenities for pilgrims as well as welfare of the priests. The infrastructure in Kedarnath will be at par with the most sophisticated quality and will preserve the traditional ethos. He assured that the development will take place with respect to the environment and projects will be carried out without harming the surroundings.
Speaking about the wonders of the Himalayas, the Prime Minister said that there is something for everyone here. From spiritualism, adventure, tourism to natural beauty, he invited everyone to come and explore the Himalayas.
