“2017 is our Year of the Pledge to sweep Garbage, Poverty, Corruption, Terrorism, Casteism and Communalism out of India”
~ Prime Minister Narendra Modi
To commemorate 75 years of the Quit India Movement the Narendra Modi government led the nation to a pledge to create a New India that is strong, prosperous and all-encompassing; an India that will make our freedom fighters proud.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said
“Quit India was a landmark movement in our history. Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s clarion call of ‘Do or Die’ people across India actively pledged to devote themselves for India’s freedom.
Today, on the 75th anniversary of the Quit India Movement, we salute all those who took part in it. Let us pledge to work shoulder to shoulder and dedicate ourselves towards creating a ‘New India’ that would make our freedom fighters proud’’.
PM Modi also spoke about the New India Website https://newindia.in/ that has information and activities pertaining to the ‘Sankalp Se Sidhhi’ (achievement through resolve) movement pioneered by him.
Prominently, the site comprises an all-inclusive Pledge, New India Manthan, Citizen Causes, an Online Quiz on the Quit India Movement and a wide-ranging calendar of numerous events being organized as constituents of the ‘achievement through resolve’ movement. This website specifically sprawls through the period beginning 2017 till 2022, for the overall development of the country making stakeholders and beneficiaries as comrades in the progress.
The Pledge is to build a New India by 2022; an India that is devoid of corruption, is clean, has no poverty, is free of terrorism, has no distinction on the basis of caste and religion.
With the help of The New India Manthan, citizens can comment and commend (pour in their views and suggestions) on ways to achieve the prime pledges.
My Causes offers an opportunity to the users to put their thinking caps on and come up with their own creative causes and at the same time, vote for the already existent citizen causes.
Media Gallery has a collection of videos, images and news portraying India’s Freedom Struggle and also a booklet that talks about the New India Pledge.
When users click the Salute to freedom Fighters tab, it opens a gallery of India’s great people of mark; The Freedom Fighters. The users get to select their idol of the freedom movement and create their own personalized New India Card with the user’s profile picture and name on it along with the photograph of the chosen freedom fighter. This is a pledge card to build a New India.
Last but not the least, www.newindia.in features a Quit India Quiz tab, which takes users to the Quit India Quiz, with which they can test their awareness of one of the most important events in India’s struggle for freedom and also learn about the champions of the freedom movement.
To encapsulate, New India is a novel website that gives an overview about India’s grand history, running abreast with a vision to build the India of our dreams.
