On January 22, 2024, the holy city of Ayodhya will witness a momentous occasion – the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the Shri Ram Mandir. This isn’t just a temple consecration; it’s the culmination of a long-held dream, the dawn of a new era for Ayodhya.

Rising on the banks of the Saryu River, the Ram Mandir stands tall, echoing the traditional Nagar style. This three-storied behemoth stretches 380 feet long, 250 feet wide, and 161 feet high, supported by 392 intricately carved pillars and adorned with 44 exquisitely crafted doors.
The sanctum sanctorum houses the childhood form of Lord Rama in a captivating black stone idol, standing 51 inches tall. Beyond this sacred space, a grand Shri Ram Darbar awaits, promising devotees a glimpse of the divine family. Five beautifully designed mandaps – Nritya, Rang, Sabha, Prarthna, and Kirtan – cater to various devotional purposes, ensuring a holistic spiritual experience.

The walls and pillars come alive with 3,600 vibrant figurines of deities, gods, and goddesses, narrating stories from Hindu Shastra. Entry is from the East, through the 32-step Singh Dwar, showcasing the iconic Lion motif.

A grand Parkota surrounds the temple, with four corner mandirs dedicated to Surya Dev, Devi Bhagwati, Ganesh Bhagwan, and Bhagwan Shiv. Within the complex, proposed mandirs honor revered figures like Maharshi Valmiki, Hanuman Ji, and Mata Shabri. The ancient Sita Koop well and a restored Bhagwan Shiv Mandir at Kuber Tila add historical significance.
A breathtaking 2100 kg bell made of Ashtadhatu and gleaming golden gates add to the temple’s grandeur. Murtis of elephant, lion, Hanuman Ji & Garuda have been installed at the entrance gate.

The Ram Mandir stands on a sturdy foundation, showcasing India’s indigenous construction techniques. A 14-meter-thick RCC base and a 21-foot granite plinth ensure longevity and protection against moisture. The complex boasts eco-friendly features like a sewage treatment plant, water treatment plant, and an independent power station, aiming for responsible growth.
A spacious Pilgrims Facility Centre with a 25,000-person capacity, medical facilities, and locker rooms cater to the needs of devotees. Separate bathing areas and washrooms further add to the convenience. A museum, digital archives, and a research facility promise to be repositories of knowledge and devotion.

Fun Fact: Ayodhya’s Hanuman Garhi Besan Ladoo has earned the prestigious GI tag, signifying its official recognition as a product originating from Ayodhya with distinctive regional qualities.
