Cycle Rally Event

A cycling rally was held on 16th October 2015 with cycling enthusiasts from across Goa led by Cycling Goa and the participants of the Goa International Mountain Bike Challenge (GIMBC) which started off at Divja Circle till Gaspar Dias, Miramar via various streets of Panaji City.

1-1Over 50 cyclists including participants of the GIMBC participated in the rally.
1-2The cycling group were welcomed by Mayor, CCP, Shri. Shubham Chodankar; Shri. Sidharth Kuncalienkar, MLA, Panaji and Shri. Sanjit Rodrigues, Commissioner, CCP in the presence of city leaders and citizens at Club Gaspar Dias, Miramar.

On culmination of the cycle rally, the President of Cycling Goa, Bryan Soares accompanied by the cyclists and participants of GIMBC handed over a CYCLING PETITION (enclosed herewith) to the Mayor, CCP, Shubham Chodankar and Sanjit Rodrigues, Commissioner, CCP in the presence of citizens and well wishers.

The petition outlined the cycling community’s aspirations for a smart Panaji i.e. to make Panaji Cycle Friendly.

These include:

  1. Legislation to protect the interests of cyclist and ensure their safety
  2. Dedicated lanes for cyclists
  3. Share – a – bike kiosks to be set up in the city
  4. Safe parking of bicycles

Imagine Panaji spreads smart city awareness through Sunday Band Stand at Garcia De Orta, Municipal Garden

The Bandstand, a community event organized by CII’s Panaji First initiative in collaboration with the Corporation of the City of Panaji every Sunday evening. This event is used to promote Panaji Smart City’s initiative for citizen involvement.

CII and CCP host a round table and second stakeholder consultation workshop on the Panaji Smart City Challenge

CII brought together a consortium of industry experts who shared technical presentations on best practices and possible smart solutions for the city

Panaji, 3rd November 2015: CII partnered with the Corporation of the City of Panaji, CCP to jointly organize a Panaji Smart City Round Table and Technical Exhibition. This was the second stakeholder consultation workshop held in the City. CII and CCP have signed an MoU on the Smart City Initiative which aims to bring in global experiences and solutions, including fresh approaches to procurement.

The round table and workshop inaugural ceremony had in attendance Chief Secretary R.K Srivastava; Mayor, CCP, Shubham Chodankar; Panaji MLA Sidharth Kuncalienkar, Shekhar Sardessai, Vice Chairman, CII, Goa state Council and Gazal Bhambri, State Head- CII Goa.

The second workshop and round table brought together stakeholders and citizens to deliberate and ideate on possible solutions and best practices which can be implemented in Panaji.

Besides representatives from various relevant departments from the State Governments and important policy makers, the round table had participation from Industry stakeholders, Financial Institutions, representatives of Potential Investors, International Trade and Investment Organizations.

CII brought together a consortium of industry experts who shared technical presentations on best practices and possible smart solutions for the city.

  2. City Resilience Index – Assessing Panaji’s Resilience: Ramiz Khan, Consultant, Panaji Smart City.
  3. Pan city solutions: Urban Mobility by Prashantha Bachu, Consultant, Panaji Smart City
  4. Pan city solutions: E-Governance and Citizen Services by Vijaya V, Consultant, Panaji Smart City
  5. Pan city solutions: Solid Waste Management by Soumya Chaturvedula, Consultant, Panaji Smart City
  6. Automation Solutions – Environment Industry by Sunil Bhor, Environment Industry Head, Endress + Hauser (India) Pvt Ltd

Team FORCA GOA’s support for Smart City Panaji

On 15th November, 2015 Team FC Goa (Indian Super League, Football team) along with Management made an appearance to engage with the community, raise awareness and show its support for the Panaji Smart City Challenge campaign.

5-1Commissioner CCP, Shri. Sanjit Rodrigues, welcomed team FC Goa to cheers from citizens gathered at the garden for the community event.
5-2FC Goa players Jaoquim Abranches, Laxmikant Kathimani, Romeo Fernandes , Mandar Rao Dessai , Nicolau Calaco , Dudu , Jonanthan Lucca and Gregory were present.

At the event, the club submitted a petition to city leaders to create a football park for the benefit of Goa’s football enthusiasts. The football park can be a meeting point for football fans of all ages, to come together for the love of the beautiful game. FC Goa has offered its support and assistance to city leaders in making this project a reality in the interest of the citizens of Goa.

    Using Cycle is one of the best way to control Pollution.
    1. Rented Cycle made available @ metro stations, this can be volunteered by nearby Industries causing pollution. Industries causing air Pollution can be given some Social responsibility.
