JharNet is the State Wide Area Network (SWAN) of Jharkhand, designed to provide secure, high-speed, and scalable connectivity for government offices, ensuring seamless e-Governance service delivery. It enables seamless data, voice, and video connectivity, ensuring efficient e-Governance services, interdepartmental communication, and public service delivery.

JharNet 2.0 is currently active and fully operational. It is an advanced version of SWAN, which has been in operation since May 2021. Built on MPLS technology, JharNet 2.0 offers enhanced robustness and reliability. Its design includes redundant connectivity, ensuring uninterrupted services through failover mechanisms.

JharNet 2.0 connects State Headquarter with:
24 District Headquarters (DHQs)
38 Sub-Division Headquarters (SDHQs)
260 Block Headquarters (BHQs)
400+ Horizontal Offices, including various government departments and administrative units
JharNet 2.0 provides Data, Voice (IP Phone), and Video (Video Conferencing) services at the State Headquarters’ Horizontal Offices, District Headquarters (DHQs), and Block Headquarters (BHQs), whereas Data and Voice (IP Phone) services are available at the Sub-Division level.

JharNet 2.0 enables real-time access to government applications, databases, and citizen services such as Treasury, Registration, Commercial tax, Transport, e-office, File Tracker, Jail-court video conferencing etc.

Key features and aspects of JharNet 2.0 include:

Cost-Effective and Scalable:
• Reduces dependency on private network providers, which reduces the cost of maintaining multiple individual networks for government departments.
• Easily scalable to accommodate future expansions and increased data traffic.

High User Adoption & Service Availability:
• More than 7,000 users are utilizing data services across various government offices.
• Approximately 2,500 plus users have access to voice (IP Phone) services for official communication.

Reliable and Secure Network:
• Built on MPLS technology, ensuring a robust, scalable, and high-performance network.
• Incorporates failover mechanisms and redundant connectivity to minimize downtime.
• Centralized network monitoring and management improve operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Implements advanced cyber security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection, and encryption to protect sensitive government data.
