Live Talk Show with Young Planners, Architects, Engineers and Municipal Corporation Amritsar

A brain storming Live Talk Show was conducted by Municipal Corporation at Global Institutes Campus. A team of consultants from Jones Lang LaSalle (J.L.L) & Tata Consulting Engineers presented their Smart City Presentation to the learned faculty and distinguish young planners and architects of the Institute. Mr. Pradeep Sabharwal I.A.S Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Amritsar was the Guest of Honor of the event.

Mr. Sorabh Vohra, Infrastructure Consultant from J.L.L explained the participant’s the smart city concepts while giving his presentation on Smart City in detail. Mr. Vohra emphasized on the citizens participation for making Amritsar a Smart City. He also discussed the objectives, parameters & features of a Smart City.

In his message to the residents of Amritsar Mr. Pradeep Sabharwal said the Smart City Amritsar is a boon for the residents of the City. Amritsar was included in the first 98 Smart cities which has boosted the already ongoing development initiatives. If selected in the second phase of first 20 cities a total grant of 1000 crores will be given for the development of Smart City out of which 400 crores will be released in the first year itself. Mr. Sabharwal urged the faculty & students to post their maximum suggestions & ideas on the www.mygov.in which is directly reviewed by PMO office of Prime Minister Sh. Narendar Modi.

The faculty members & students shared their views and suggestions on smart city proposal. A volly of questions were put forward to the Commissioner and the Question Hour session bounced from half an hour to more than one hour. One of the students Mr. Gajendar Singh Rathore of B.Tech 1st year asked the remedial measures for preventing pollution in outfall drain on Amritsar Byepass Road. Ms. Damanpreet Kaur highlighted the traffic congestion problem of FatehGarh Churian Road and near bus stand. Mr. Vikrant wanted that there should be smart solution of each and every strata living in Amritsar. The Commissioner gave satisfactory replies to each and every question which was applauded by clapping of hands by the students. The Commissioner appreciated the active participation of the students & commented that he has never seen such a huge enthusiasm among the young engineers for Smart City in Amritsar.

Mr. Sabharwal also added more than 2500 crores of development works of Golden Temple, Durgiana Temple, Gobindgarh Fort, Food Court opp. Crystal Chowk are already undergoing in the city.
Other members present in the event were Dr. Balwinder Singh, Mr. Parduman Singh S.E (O&M Cell) Amritsar MC, Mr. Sunil Mahajan, Amritsar XEN and Dr. Raju Chauhan MOH – MC Amritsar.

Earlier Dr. Maninder Singh Dean – Global Institutes welcomed the Guests with a Bouque also Dr. Akashdeep Singh, Vice Chairman, Global Institutes appreciated the efforts of Municipal Corporation & Govt. of India for making Amritsar a world class City. He also said that it is now the responsibility of people of Amritsar to come forward to make this proposal of “Smart City” a reality and a great success.

    " Innovative Ideas " before starting up any project. and should be flexible to change
    any point of time. And " Manual Scavenging must Stop.
