“National Urban Learning Platform (NULP) Renaming Challenge: Your Urban Wisdom, Our New Name”
The National Urban Learning Program (NULP), a joint initiative of the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), sought public participation in renaming challenge through a competition hosted on the MyGov platform. Despite receiving a significant number of entries, the evaluation team, after careful consideration, has decided to close the competition and retain the existing name “National Urban Learning Program.”
While we appreciate the enthusiastic response from the public, the entries did not meet the expectations set by the evaluation team. The primary concerns were:
- Lack of originality and relevance: Many entries were variations of existing NULP branding or generic terms not specifically aligned with the program’s goals and objectives.
- Limited understanding of NULP’s mission: Several entries did not reflect the core values and activities of NULP, showcasing a disconnect with the program’s purpose.
- Unsuitability for branding and communication: Some entries were difficult to pronounce, or lacked callback value, hindering effective communication and brand recognition.
We understand that many of you eagerly participated in the NULP renaming competition, and we want to offer our sincerest apologies that, after careful consideration, the judges were unable to select a winning entry. Therefore, the competition has been closed, and the prize money of INR 10,000 will not be awarded.
We value public participation and recognize the effort put into every entry. However, ensuring a name that accurately reflects NULP’s purpose and serves the program effectively for years to come remains paramount.
Moving forward, we will focus on:
- Strengthening communication efforts: To better convey NULP’s mission and impact through various channels, including the MyGov platform.
- Encouraging public participation: Through alternative modes of feedback and engagement (including contests) to democratize the program and the process.
We remain committed to continuous improvement and value your continued support as we move forward. While this may not be the outcome you hoped for, we believe your participation has contributed significantly to NULP’s journey.
Thank you once again for your understanding and participation.
