To motivate the Telecom Skill ecosystem, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Telecom Skill Excellence Awards was instituted by Department of Telecommunications (Ministry of Communications) in 2017 with an objective to reward annually, the successful telecom skilled people for their special contributions in the areas of Telecom Skilling, Telecom Services, Telecom Manufacturing, Telecom Applications in deploying telecom dependent sectoral solutions for different fields such as agriculture, commerce, health, education etc.
The Department of Telecommunications (Ministry of Communications) invites nominations for Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Telecom Skill Excellence Award 2018 from the citizens of India for their special contributions in the areas of Telecom Skilling, Telecom Services, Telecom Manufacturing, Telecom Applications in deploying telecom dependent sectoral solutions for different fields such as agriculture, commerce, health, education etc.
Nature of Awards
The scheme shall have following cash awards and citation to be given:

*The Award money is exempt from Income Tax under Section (10) (17A) of Income Tax Act, 1961.
In addition to the cash awards and the citation stated above, the awardees will also be paid towards travelling, boarding, lodging and incidental expenses. All awardees shall be reimbursed to the extent limited to AC IInd Class train fare from his / her station of normal residence to the station where the Award Function is held. They will also be paid Rs 7,500/- towards boarding, lodging and other incidental expenses.
• The applicant shall have significant contribution in the areas of Telecom Skilling, Telecom Services, Telecom Manufacturing, Telecom Applications in deploying telecom dependent sectoral solutions for different fields such as agriculture, commerce, health, education etc.
• The awards shall be given on the basis of contributions made through work done for most part in India, in the last three years preceding the year of the award.
• Preference shall be given for the works done in rural / backward areas.
• The applicant shall be a citizen of India.
• For these awards, there is no age limit. Age shall not be a limiting factor for excellent work/achievement.
• The Award for Excellence shall be given to individuals only.
The nominations are to be submitted in the prescribed format at Annexure-I only. In case of work done in professional/official capacity, the nomination may mandatorily be sent through the office/company as the case may be, with due recommendations from the office/company. In case of work done in individual capacity, recommendation is optional.
It has to be accompanied by a declaration either by the applicant or by the recommending entity containing the following text:
i. the information given in the nomination is correct
ii. the work has been done by the applicant
iii. the work has been done in the last 3 years
iv. the major part of the work has been done in India
Nominations shall be sent by post to Director (SD), DOT, Room No 1315, 13th Floor, Sanchar Bhawan, 20, Ashok Road, New Delhi-110001. The envelope should have Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Telecom Skill Excellence Award 2018 superscribed on top. The last date of receipt of nominations shall be 6th September 2018, 3:00 p.m. It will be the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the nominations are delivered in Sanchar Bhawan before the date and time mentioned above. Nominations received beyond the prescribed date or which are incomplete or made in any format other than the prescribed, will be rejected.
