On 17th September 2025, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of one of India’s most ambitious industrial projects – the PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. Spread across 2,158 acres, with an investment potential of over ₹20,000 crore, this park is poised to transform not only the textile and apparel industry of Madhya Pradesh but also India’s positioning in the global value chain.

This project is more than just an industrial hub. It embodies the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat, reflects the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, and strengthens Madhya Pradesh’s role as a rising industrial and agricultural powerhouse.

Madhya Pradesh: The Heart of India, Now the Hub of Industry

Madhya Pradesh, often called the heart of India, has historically been known for its agriculture, tribal heritage, and cultural richness. Over the last decade, under dynamic leadership and forward-looking policies, the state has emerged as a key investment destination for sectors like agriculture processing, textiles, automobiles, defense, IT, and renewable energy.

With the establishment of the PM MITRA Park in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh now takes a giant leap towards becoming a textile capital of India.

The park will:

  • Generate over 3 lakh jobs, empowering youth and women.
  • Provide a world-class ecosystem for textile manufacturing, right from raw cotton to high-end garments.
  • Boost exports and strengthen India’s position as a global textile hub.

The 5F Vision: From Farm to Foreign

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has consistently emphasized his 5F vision for the textile sector:

Farm → Fibre → Factory → Fashion → Foreign

This approach integrates the entire value chain of the textile industry.

  • Farm: Madhya Pradesh is among the top cotton-producing states in India. The park will directly benefit farmers by creating a stable demand for their cotton, ensuring better incomes.
  • Fibre: With strong backward linkages, the park will support industries that convert raw cotton into fibre and yarn.
  • Factory: The mega textile units to be set up in the park will bring cutting-edge technology, design, and sustainable practices.
  • Fashion: Indian apparel brands will get a global platform, promoting ‘Vocal for Local’ and strengthening India’s cultural identity in fashion.
  • Foreign: By promoting exports, India will be able to compete with textile giants like China, Bangladesh, and Vietnam.

Thus, the PM MITRA Park in Dhar is not just a factory cluster- it is the practical realization of the 5F vision.

Agriculture and Industry: A New Synergy

Madhya Pradesh is known as the Agriculture State of India, and its farmers have always been the backbone of the economy. The PM MITRA Park now creates a direct bridge between agriculture and industry.

  • Cotton farmers of Dhar, Khargone, and nearby regions will benefit from a ready market for their produce.
  • Food and agri-based textile inputs (like organic cotton) will find global acceptance.
  • Farmers will be integrated into sustainable textile practices, encouraging organic and eco-friendly farming.

This synergy ensures that the farmer is not left behind in the journey of industrial progress. Instead, the farmer becomes a partner in industrial growth.

A Symbol of Atmanirbhar Bharat

The PM MITRA Park in Dhar is a testament to Atmanirbhar Bharat in action.

  • By reducing dependency on imported fabrics and textiles, India will strengthen its domestic self-reliance.
  • By building globally competitive textile hubs, India will move towards becoming a manufacturing and export powerhouse.
  • By creating employment and entrepreneurial opportunities, the park will empower MSMEs, startups, and artisans.

The park will also integrate traditional handloom and handicrafts of Madhya Pradesh with modern textile innovations, ensuring that India’s cultural heritage gets a global stage.

Driving Viksit Bharat @2047

As India envisions becoming a developed nation by 2047, projects like PM MITRA Park are the building blocks of that vision.

  1. Economic Growth: With an investment potential of ₹20,000 crore, the park will significantly boost state and national GDP.
  2. Employment: Direct and indirect jobs for more than 3 lakh youth will uplift entire families and communities.
  3. Infrastructure: World-class plug-and-play infrastructure, green energy integration, and sustainable waste management systems will set global benchmarks.
  4. Exports: India’s textile exports are projected to grow exponentially, aligning with the goal of making India a top-3 economy globally.
  5. Sustainability: Eco-friendly production methods, energy-efficient machinery, and circular economy practices will support green growth.

This park is not just an industrial zone, it is a visionary step towards a developed India.

Dhar: A Rising Industrial Destination

The choice of Dhar for this project is strategic. Located in the Malwa region, Dhar enjoys excellent connectivity to Indore, India’s cleanest city and a growing industrial hub. The presence of major highways, rail networks, and proximity to dry ports makes Dhar ideal for domestic and international trade.

Moreover, Dhar has a strong agricultural base, which will complement the textile value chain. The local population, known for its hard work and entrepreneurial spirit, will benefit immensely from employment and skill development opportunities.

Women Empowerment Through Industry

The textile sector has historically been one of the largest employers of women. The PM MITRA Park in Dhar is expected to:

  • Provide employment opportunities to thousands of women.
  • Support skill training programs in tailoring, garment design, and machine operations.
  • Promote women-led startups in fashion and apparel.

This aligns with the broader vision of ‘Nari Shakti for Nation Shakti’, ensuring that women are at the forefront of India’s growth story.

A Global Benchmark in Textile Manufacturing

The PM MITRA Park is designed as an integrated textile ecosystem, offering:

  • State-of-the-art infrastructure.
  • Common facilities like testing labs, design studios, and logistics hubs.
  • Sustainable features like renewable energy integration and zero liquid discharge systems.
  • Plug-and-play setups for MSMEs and global companies.

Weaving Dreams Into Reality

The Bhoomi Pujan of the PM MITRA Park in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, was performed by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 17th September 2025. It is not just a textile park — it stands as a true symbol of India’s aspirations.

It weaves together the dreams of farmers, entrepreneurs, workers, and youth. It connects agriculture with industry, tradition with technology, and local with global.

As Madhya Pradesh becomes a textile powerhouse, this park will play a pivotal role in realizing the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat @2047.

The foundation stone laid in Dhar is, in truth, the foundation of a new industrial revolution—a revolution powered by innovation, inclusivity, and integrity.
