Use of technology in education proving a boon for students in Himachal
The state government has initiated many innovative programs to ensure that the education of the students of the state goes uninterrupted ever during the Corona pandemic. The state government is ensuring optimum use of Narendra Modi’s Digital India campaign in the best possible manner. The objective of the Digital India campaign by the central government is to provide a digital solution to the people through technology.
Currently, 80% of students associated with Har Ghar Pathshala programme:
During the Corona pandemic, the Education Department was ensuring continuous education to students. Har Ghar Pathshala programme, e-PTM and Digital Saathi campaign started by the state government are proving beneficial in providing education to the students. Efforts were being made to connect cent percent students of the state through Har Ghar Pathshala programme. At present, 80 percent of the students have been associated with this programme. About 6.4 lakh students were connected through whatsapp and 55 percent students were participating in weekly quiz organized by the department.
The second phase of Har Ghar Pathshala was started during the second wave of Covid-19 and efforts were made to make the programme more students friendly. The teachers are now providing live classes under the programme through google meet. Students absent in live classes are given telephonic call by the teachers.
e-PTM programmes are organized twice through online medium across the state to establish communication between teachers, students and parents. Under this programme interaction with 92 percent parents have been held.
Digital Saathi Bachon Ka Sahara Phone Humara:
The state government launched the country’s first innovative campaign ‘Digital Saathi Bachon Ka Sahara Phone Humara’ under Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan to provide mobile phones to economically weaker students of the state. The mobile phones received from the donors through this campaign would be distributed to the needy students. Digital Saathi Portal has also been launched to ensure successful and transparent implementation of Digital Saathi programme. The donor would also be able to track the mobile phone and get e-certificate through this portal. The state government is also being supported by the film actress Yami Gautam, for successful implementation of the programme.
The Corona pandemic has adversely affected every section of society, physically and mentally. The students and teachers were also being provided yoga and meditation classes to reduce the adverse effect of the pandemic through Har Ghar Pathshala programme. More than eight lakh students have benefited from this programme.The efforts of the state government in providing continuous education to the students through optimum use of technology were being appreciated across the country. The use of technology in imparting education was proving boon to the students.
