Every year, more than 1.50 lakhs people lose their lives in our country in road accidents and many more are debilitated. There is a need for the society at large to take cognizance of the issue and to join hands to make road safety a social movement. To give all the stakeholders an opportunity to take part in concerted action for the cause, National Road Safety Month was observed from 18th January 2021 to 17th February 2021. The theme of this year was, “Sadak Suraksha- Jeevan Raksha”.
An Essay Writing Competition was organized under the Umbrella of National Road Safety Month 2021 by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and Indian Road Safety Campaign (IRSC).
Measuring road safety is not as simple as measuring temperature. The future of road safety is uncertain. If current trends continue, road crashes are predicted to become the fifth leading cause of death by 2030. Essays are indeed a useful tool for sharing information in a great and effective manner. The Competition received a good response from the participants. In total. 1036 individuals took part in the contest.
At the end of the competition, the top 3 participants received the awards in the form of cash.
