The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), in collaboration with MyGov, organised the BHARAT GI Quiz – Celebrate India’s Heritage to promote awareness of India’s Geographical Indications (GIs) and the country’s distinctive traditional products, crafts and cultural heritage.
Geographical Indications recognise products whose quality, reputation or other distinctive characteristics are closely linked to their place of origin. They help protect authentic regional identities, preserve traditional knowledge and skills, and support livelihoods by strengthening the recognition and market potential of local producers and communities. BHARAT GI seeks to deepen public awareness of this shared heritage and encourage wider appreciation of India’s GI-tagged products.
The quiz was conducted from 15 May to 30 June 2026 and received participation from 29068 participants across the country. The encouraging response reflected growing public interest in India’s diverse GI-tagged products and their cultural and economic value.
