Agra Municipal Corporation has always adopted the path of innovation, in order to achieve the goal of offering good quality public life to the citizens of Agra, with available limited resources. AMC wants to adopt a participatory process involving the citizens of varied interests concerned with the city’s growth and sustainable development. Today, when every urban local body is striving to provide its citizens with the best of governance, only those like Agra figure where decentralized efforts in improving the city’s living environment are clearly visible and are above all other interests. Agra an age-old trade centre has been confronted with issues from time to time, which it has used to strengthen itself. Its strategy is to move from ‘tackling issues’ to ‘not allowing issues to emerge’ by means of effective, integrated and phased plans. It is believed that this effort of the Agra Municipal Corporation will bring in a corporate vision to the Smart Cities Mission and a change that the citizens of Agra will contribute to, and ultimately be benefitted.

Govt should take initiate to stop the sales of shoe covers outside and distribute themselve to people while they stair up the Taj and force them to put in trash while coming down from the Taj. That way they will actually serve their real purpose and do not spread across the whole compound.

We are owning Taj Mahal as World heritage and a global face of India. Does it not our responsibility to keep it clean and force people all the rules and regulations of lines and queues. Shoe covers concept is adopted from foreign country which is a nice initiative but poeple does not have awareness to when to wear it and by the time they reach to actual makbara, it tears off and ultimatly cause dirtyness to Taj.

I recently visited Taj Mahal on December 26th. I live in USA and came to India for a vacation. My heart was literally crying that day by looking at the condition of Taj Parisar. That day their was magnificent croud and even police was not able to control that. In the whole campus, there was so much of garbage spread, broken shoe covers are spread across and people are almost jumping the walls, and crossing the barricades.

Agra city has tremendous potential to be top league cities in India. In-spite of being the top tourist destination, it doesn’t have fully functional airport. This causes lot of tourism revenue being lost as tourists don’t spend much time there and tend to go back to Delhi after spending a day there.
Other major issue that needs attention is a need of a highway that should circle around the city and prevent through traffic to enter city. This will highly de-congest the roads.
