Driving the Future – Join NITI Aayog Led Shoonya Campaign’s Webinar on EVs and Clean Mobility in India
India’s approach towards net-zero development is reflected in its rapidly growing electric mobility sector. As more and more Indians embrace this shift, electric vehicles (EVs) are fast becoming a tool of empowerment, and a significant way to reduce emissions and realise the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
India’s Flourishing EV Ecosystem
The pace of this transition is reflected in the increasing uptick in electric vehicle sales, aligned with the nation’s Panchamrit goals. In 2024, EV sales in India accounted for more than 5 percent of market share with a total of 14.08 lakh units, a notable increase from 2023. Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently shared that EV sales are expected to grow eight-fold in the coming decade, underscoring their critical role in the nation’s “Make in India, Make for the World” strategy. Government initiatives like the recently announced PM E-DRIVE scheme are key drivers of this change, making these vehicles more accessible through subsidies and progressive policy interventions.
The Impact of Growing EV Adoption
A swiftly advancing clean mobility landscape will translate to positive impact on the lives and livelihoods of Indians in more ways than one. Beyond the major environmental benefits, the electric mobility industry is and will continue to ramp up its contributions to job creation, economic development, and streamlining services such as ride-hailing and deliveries.

About Shoonya
The “Shoonya — Zero-Pollution Mobility” campaign promotes the use of EVs for urban deliveries and ride-hailing. Shoonya, meaning “zero” in Sanskrit, implies the beginning and origination of possibilities. Inspired by this connotation, the Shoonya campaign is leading India’s transition to zero-emission vehicles through consumer awareness, industry engagement, and an impactful partnership with MyGov. In its first three years, the campaign has witnessed INR 766 crores in fuel savings, equivalent to planting 1.3 million trees.
