IICDC 2019: Engineering Students Making India Proud

04 Dec 2019

Over the years, Indian Engineers have made our country proud with their contributions in a number of diverse fields.

To strengthen this legacy and to ensure that these splendid accomplishments also continue to be led by future engineers of India, today’s engineering students must be nurtured with experiential learning, the culture of innovation and connected to the real world societal issues.

DST & Texas Instruments (TI) Inc. ‘India Innovation Challenge Design Contest 2019′ (IICDC 2019) powered by AICTE mission, anchored by NSRCEL@IIMB and MyGov platform has been a vital catalyst in seeding the breed of talented and budding innovators for creating path breaking solutions and bringing forth the entrepreneurial spirit of young India.

This year’s edition has seen an exponential growth in the participation by 1, 16, 000+ engineering students from 2100+ colleges submitting 31,045 ideas under the mentorship of 13,000+ Faculty Mentors endorsing IICDC as a Prestigious Platform that advances EXCELLENCE in INNOVATION. To top it, IICDC has generated the highest number of patent applications from any engineering contest in India. The fact that 175 patents have been filed till date asserts that IICDC believes in student teams to succeed in taking the extra step between idea and prototype.

“The contribution of Texas Instruments, IIM Bangalore and DST has been phenomenal. I am thankful to them from the deepest bottom of my heart for giving us the wings to fly. That has always brought out the best in us,” says Bratati Halder, Director of Erobern Technology Solutions, and part of the team that won the inaugural IICDC in 2016. Like Bratati, a number of IICDC incubates have been serving the society through their products that address real-world problems. They have gone on to serve more than 10,000+ customers, proving the value of IICDC’s approach.

Academia and Academicians too have played a crucial role by mentoring & guiding the young engineers and has helped them achieve their entrepreneurial dreams. This inspires us to become more than what we are and to break the limits of our own potential while staying rooted to our core philosophy. Congratulations to the Top 30 Colleges for their overwhelming participation in IICDC 2019 and to the 204 Faculty Mentors, who are the members of the “The Confederation of Elite Academicians of IICDC” recognized by AICTE, Texas Instruments, IIM Bangalore and DST.
