MyGov, Intel & DST unveil the Top 50 entries for Innovate for Digital India Challenge
With over 1900 promising entries received, the first phase of MyGov, Intel & DST “Innovate for Digital India’ Challenge concluded with some great and innovative solutions coming in from all across India. Most of the entries received were of very high quality and a testimony to India’s inherent innovative and entrepreneurial capabilities and the abilities of the citizens to think creatively in addressing a problem.
In line with the government’s vision of creating a Digital India that harnesses the capabilities of technology to empower every Indian citizen, the challenge will act as a fillip to the young, innovative and creative minds to bring the best of technology to solve the everyday problems. With this vision, technology can be efficiently leveraged to drive universal access to education, healthcare and services, which is the key to inclusive growth and development. For Digital India to be a reality, technology usage needs to be pervasive and technology has to start solving key local problems.
The unique thing about the Innovate for Digital India Challenge is how true it stays to its premise of being a ‘Public Private Partnership’. Every involved entity be it DST, Intel, MyGov or CIIE has their tasks clearly cut out and yet everyone marched to the same tune with the ultimate goal of creating solutions that address local development problems.
The most heartening part of this challenge was that the only criteria it had for applicants was that they had to be Indian citizens over the age of 18, which is pretty similar to the premise of being MyGov users.
IIM Ahmadabad’s CIIE and its panel of jurors combed through the 1913 fully completed applications to narrow down the top 50 teams that will be given a chance to present their ideas at IIM Ahemedabad on 22nd July 2015. These will then be shortlisted to the top 20 who will enter the accelerator phase where they will be mentored extensively to get their ideas from ‘mind to market’. Over a span of more than 7 months the participants will be mentored by industry stalwarts and Intel experts and trained in technical know-how, will be provided access to product kits and infrastructure and multiple commercialization opportunities. It’s a rare end-to-end platform that not only identifies and acknowledges innovation and ingenuity but also gives an opportunity to the applicants to be trained, funded and networked by experienced mentors.
We are very excited and proud to present the Top 50 entries. We wish those who get shortlisted the very best of luck for the next phases and a thank you to everyone who applied and participated in the challenge. Thank you for becoming an active contributor to the Digital India vision after all as the saying goes “Each step you take reveals a new horizon. You’ve taken one step today, now I challenge you to take another.”

i strongly feel the special properties of Ganga water are under represented in the international community, they can get special geographical index for unique chemical and mystical properties and get endangered status due to state govt. practices in Bihar, UP, WB, bringing investments into zero waste emissions into the sacred river. i wonder y the Ministry concerned is complacent in this regard and not probing this angle, EU Case_ID: 0457332 / 7562714, PMO grievance PMOPG/E/2015/0138061
We should do basic things rightly. Port change started in India , however this easy process made such a way customers / users are getting confused. Experience I am sharing I want to change my number from Vodafone to Airtel. Twice I did and it has not happend and no clue. Somebody saying Vodafone is not releasing. What process TRAI made for the same . Why not it simple? Every steps we are making complex instead easy. Digital India all these small things are more relevant.
#Financial Technology Just provide simple POS to all shop keeper for free which can calculate there sales tax and auto submit the report to government offices that’s all. Innovation is very far first implement what we have.
