Moradabad Nagar Nigam has started preparation of its Smart City Proposal for Stage 2 of the Smart City challenge. Moradabad had been selected as one of the 100 cities in Stage 1 of the challenge and will be competing to be in the list of top 20 cities selected in the first year of the challenge. Other cities from Uttar Pradesh to appear among the top 100 are Aligarh, Saharanpur, Bareilly, Jhansi, Kanpur, Allahabad, Lucknow, Varanasi, Ghaziabad, Agra, Rampur.

Winning the Smart City Challenge would provide a significant impetus to the next phase of city development and towards the goal of a Smart Moradabad.

The Cities adjudged to have submitted the best proposals will receive funding under the smart city program in the first year of the challenge while the remaining cities will have the chance to compete again next year.

Moradabad Nagar Nigam has appointed Engineers India Limited (A Govt of India U/T) & JPS Associates to assist in the formulation of its Smart City Proposal. Both the firms have excellent track record. The Team is currently conducting a baseline survey of the city in consultation with various municipal departments.

Considering the citizen inputs to be of vital importance, the Moradabad Nagar Nigam seeks active citizen consultation for formulation of its smart city vision, mission and plan. It has invited suggestions through social media, direct consultations and various forums. Citizens are urged to participate in the process of achieving the vision of a smarter Moradabad by sharing their views and aspirations to become a Smart City. Moradabad Nagar Nigam has also launched competitions such as essay writing “Mere Sapnon ka Shehar Moradabad “ with prizes to be provided to the winning entries.

Also during the course of Citizen Interaction, a questionnaire would be floated to gauge the major issues and citizen suggestions towards a Smart, Sustainable and Self Reliant Moradabad. These would also provide the views of the citizens, their opinions and understanding for potential service improvements.

Further, second round of citizen engagement would be undertaken to focus on Concept Plan creation, co-creating solutions and finalization of City wide Concept plans. Based on citizen inputs, Nagar Nigam Moradabad in consultation with Engineers India Limited Team would devise area-based and pan-city initiatives to be incorporated in the smart city proposal. Specific solutions would be identified and citizen views would be sought in the second round of citizen engagement. Finally, citizen engagement would be held to gather feedback on the unique solutions identified towards making Moradabad a smart city.

What about Bareilly? Not a Single post about my city? Anyways, (i) Biggest problem is erratic power supply most of the time. (ii) traffic / disobedience of rules by auto/tempowalas seem to be next. We need traffic signals in the entire city. (iii) two flyovers are desperately required at shamatganj as well as IVRI/Izatnagar Rly crossing. (iv) need a proper chauraha at suresh sharma nagar-dental colleges’ road chauraha. (v) require an air terminal for civilians. (vi) Improved security.

    There are several problems in Moradabad City without ratifying those moradabad can not be smart city;
1- There should be divider on the road between Fabarra chowk to Budh bazaar. Due to that there is always road block.
2- Loco shed pull should be widened as soon as possible.
3- Heavy traffic should be by passed from the city even road buses.
4- There should be parking in all the markets for cars and two wheeler.
5- All traffic should be in working and traffic police should be there also.

The biggest problem this city is facing is Encroachment of roads every corner of this city is encroached by the shopkeepers. The goods of shopkeepers is lying more on the roads than in the shops. Supreme Coart has given the ruling to free the roads from encroachment but I am unable to understand why the Administration shows the leniency for them. Smooth running traffic is a must to make any ciy Smart.

Traffic(conti).: Solution: There should be an elevated road from zero point (delhi road) to New Bus stand. this elevated road should be well connected to the present main road at new-moradabad,buddhi vihar, mansarover,Favara chowk, railway station, oldbusstand(if not shifted),Buddhbazar and sambhal chowrah and apart from this an elevated bridge should also be constructed to connect the line par area over sabzi-mandi. but first of all encroachment problem should be solved form all places.

There are many problems in Moradabad, some of them as given below.
    1. Traffic Problem: it is because of encroachment by shops, Reeriwala,Thelawala,non-availability of proper parking at any place. first of all we have to look on these issues then at the later stage the administration may put their efforts to develop infrastructure. i have seen every where parking on the mid of the road from Tarikhana to Gurhatti Chowrah and from Kotwali to BartanBazaar.divider may be constructed on these roads.

As far as my dream city is concerned i would suggest more emphasise on solid waste management, sanitation, greener environment through maintenance of parks in colonies, waste disposal system, cleaning of holy ganga and to put a check on waste disposal in ganga, better traffic conditions and adequate water & electricity supply and use of solar power in government offices and in street lights if possible.
With these few steps we can acheive a lot and even more than this if properly implemented.

Transport problem is confined to 1 or 2 parts of city but major problem is : DRAINAGE SYSTEM IN INTERIOR and AVANTIKA COLONY. water is logged in drains near houses, giving rise to mosquito borne diseases : malaria, dengu. So creating a dual problem of drainage and health
