Winners Announcement for Essay Competition on North East India
As part of the Independence Day Celebrations 2026, the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), in coordination with MyGov, invited citizens to share their thoughts and perspectives on the rich cultural heritage, developmental journey and transformative progress of North East India.
The Essay Competition on North East India, held from 6 July to 21 July 2026, witnessed an encouraging response, receiving 1,045 submissions.
Participants submitted essays on the themes:
- From Periphery to Prosperity: The Transformational Journey of North East India
- Women of North East India: Leading Change and Development
The entries were evaluated by the designated Screening Committee of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region on the basis of relevance, originality and creativity, clarity of thought, quality of language and expression, use of relevant facts and examples, strength of conclusion, and adherence to the prescribed guidelines.

The selected winners have been recognised with the following rewards:
- The top three winners selected from the eight North-Eastern States are being felicitated with exciting prizes and the opportunity to witness the Independence Day Celebrations on 15 August 2026 at the Red Fort, New Delhi.
- The next 10 winners are being felicitated with Certificates.
