World Food India Hackathon Winner Announcement

The World Food India 2017 Hackathon challenge was organized with a focus on harnessing the rich talent and skills of students, start-ups, and technology enthusiasts, to develop IT enabled innovative solutions, for challenges faced by the Food Processing Sector.

The hackathon received an enthusiastic response from across the country with over 150 team registrations.

65 teams participated and presented their solutions to pre- identified problems, at the World Food India Hackathon on 27 & 28 October 2017 in New Delhi.

First prize winning solution

A one-stop shop for farmers that provides forward & backward linkages, measures pesticide percentage in the soil, suggests best practices at every stage of the crop, provides information on storage options and connect to banks & insurance firms.

Second prize winning solution

Ensures a transparent and secure milk procurement service by generating a unique QR code for every milk packet. The code stores information on packaging, distribution, procurement and various other stages online for easy access to customers who can report cases of adulteration to the company.

Third prize winning solution

Detects and provides information on freshness & quality of fruits and vegetables to retailers, dealers, distributors, end consumers and Quality Assurance units of food processing businesses. The solution focuses on reducing wastage of the produce by using a low cost hardware technology.

Top 3 winning teams were felicitated by Hon’ble President of India, Shri. Ram Nath Kovind in the valedictory session of World Food India on 05 November 2017.

1st Prize – Rs 1, 00, 000/- (One Lac only)

2nd Prize – Rs 75, 000/- (Seventy Five Thousand only)

3rd Prize – Rs 50, 000/- (Fifty Thousand only)
