Essay competition for Karnal Smart City

Citizens participated in an essay competition “Mere sapno ka KARNAL” (Hindi), “My dream city KARNAL” (English) for developing the vision statements for proposed Smart City. The Essay focused on the issues/needs brought out by citizens of the city, citizen solutions to address these and their priorities.

The competition in both online and offline mode. Online submissions were done on mygov.in platform directly by the citizens. The offline competition was held for school children, college students, senior citizens of Karnal. A group of 40 teachers were selected for the essay evaluation process. Three winners were selected from each of the categories and 50 consolation prizes were awarded for best entries. The event was organised by Nagar Nigam Karnal at Kalidass Rangashala, where citizens could walk in to write and submit their essays.

5,950 submissions were got across categories with submissions both online and offline.
2917 essays were submitted online on mygov and 3033 essays were submitted during the offline essay competition.
