Panaji among the 13 cities selected in the Fast Track Mode of the Smart City Submission
The Centre has announced the list of 13 cities which have made it to the top of the list in the Fast Track Mode of the Smart City Submission.
Panaji, the capital city of Goa was ranked 8th among the 13 cities selected.
Panaji, the capital of Goa had been selected in the list of 100 Smart cities under the Smart City Mission of Union Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), Government of India launched in June 2015.The central government released a list of 23 cities, which included Panaji, which was invited to revise and fast track their Smart City proposals for submission before 21st April 2016.
A few months ago the Panaji Smart City cell had embarked on a massive campaign while engaging with citizens across various platforms to gather feedback and suggestions towards the smart development of the city of Panaji. The city of Panaji has taken into account the citizen’s suggestions and drafted a blueprint for the city.
The proposal has been judged on credibility of implementation, city vision and strategy, economic and environmental impacts, cost effectiveness, innovation and scalability and processes followed, including citizen consultations.
