Radio Talk Show – Preparation of Smart City Proposal for Pasighat
Pasighat has been selected under 23 Fast track cities for the Smart Cities Mission, Government of India in which a revamped proposal is to be submitted before 15th April 2016.
In this regard, Pasighat Municipal Council organized a radio Talk show in the form of Group Discussion to elicit Citizen Participation& Engagement in the preparation of new Smart City Proposal. This Group Discussion was attended by:-
1) MLA, Pasighat as public representative
2) Municipal Executive Officer, Pasighat as representative of the organization
3) Smart City Mission officer as Subject Expert.
The participants discussed about the various prospects of making Pasighat a smart city. There were discussions and deliberations on the gaps identified by Govt. of India on previous proposal and way forward on rectifying these gaps. This talk show was organized at All India Radio headquarters, Pasighat.

We have only one Government Hospital for around 50 Thousand of Population. Most of the time, we have to visit Dibrugadh for treatment. We are looted down. Not everyone can effort to go there. No MRI Scan still in the city, which is going to be a Smart City.
How will you contribute to your city as a smart citizen – Success of this smart city initiative will actually depend on how we as citizen participate actively in it. If is not only government’s fault, ours too. Why are we making our city so dirty? Just we are paying tax that does not mean that we can do anything. Simple, but important steps should be taken by us to keep our city beautiful.

– Ensure zero tolerance to use plastic bags, chewing Gutka and Tobacco. Spitting Gutka and tobacco is the main cause of filthy look in the green city.
– A chapter on hygience/cleanliness practices should be included in primary school curriculum from the first standard.
Clean, Green & Beautiful Pasighat – Caw and street dogs are doing the nuisance in our street and also reason of accident. Animal removal squad should be established to control caw and dogs in the smart city.
Media
– Provision of media correspondents may be encouraged.
– Local TV channels may be introduced.
– Govt. Schemes, advertisements may be made available to public through particular authorised mobile apps.
Energy – use of more LED power saving light. Proper street lighting with dusk to dawn auto-switch lighting system. Integration of solar panels with the electric grid of the city. Using solar power cooking for kitchens.
Parking – create parking building at junctions and at all busy roads, parking buildings can be done by PPP model and private players should be allowed to collect parking fees to recover their money. At least 5-8 floor of parking building at most of the place will solve parking issues.
