Consultation with Chamber of Commerce and Industrialists

On the 12th of October 2015, Hon. Mayor Mr. Alok Sharma led a citizen consultation at Noor-Us-Sabah Palace Hotel with the Chamber of Commerce and other industrial associations with a view of inviting suggestions from the business class of Bhopal. There was representation from various associations such as Bhopal Transport Association, Lions Club, New Market Vyapari Sangh, Kirana Vyavasayi Mahasangh, Vastra Vikrata Mahasangh, Hotel and Restaurant Industry Association, Sarafa Association, Petrol-pump Association, Camest Association, Rotary Club of Bhopal, Govindpura Industries Association, Eitkheri Industrial Association, BHEL Kirana Vyapari Sangh and many others. The event was also attended by Mr. Surjeet Singh, Mr. Brijesh Lunawat and Mr. Lalit Jain.

Additional Commissioner of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC), Mr. Chandramauli Shukla briefed the attendees about the concept of Smart city as per guidelines provided by the Central government. He also raised the issue about the increasing number of vehicles in the city in comparison to population growth. People were informed about the various initiatives undertaken by the BMC and the citizen engagement activities planned through online and offline mediums. A brochure containing information about the mission and citizen engagement process was also distributed, along with a brief self-filled survey which captured the issues and suggestions of the people.

Thereafter, a person representing each association spoke on behalf of them to give their opinions and suggestions on Smart City Bhopal. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Hon. Mayor who acknowledged all the valuable suggestions and urged the society to come forward and fulfill their civic responsibilities by playing a key role in Bhopal’s Smart city transformation.
