Winner Announcement of Logo Design Competition for India Semiconductor Mission (ISM)
In its perseverance to become AatmaNirbar (Self-sufficient), India has commenced its journey towards being a hub for Electronic System Design Manufacturing particularly in the semiconductor and display domain. The Government of India launched a comprehensive Semicon India Program with an outlay of Rs.76,000 crore (> USD 10 billion) whereby various schemes have been introduced for strengthening the semiconductor and display ecosystem in India namely –
- Semiconductor fabs incentivization
- Display fabs incentivization
- Incentivization for Compound Semiconductors / Silicon Photonics / Sensors Fab and Semiconductor Assembly, Testing, Marking and Packaging (ATMP) / OSAT facilities.
- Design infrastructure support, product linked incentive scheme, deployment linked incentive scheme.
With a view to ascertain administrative and financial autonomy to drive India’s strategies for developing the semiconductors and display manufacturing ecosystem, India Semiconductor Mission was established as an Independent Business Division within Digital India Corporation (DIC). Further for the purpose of effective branding by creating awareness about ISM and its objectives through a clear identifiable presence amongst the relevant the requirement of an appropriate logo was considered necessary.
Accordingly, a Logo Design Contest was organized by MyGov for ISM on December 29, 2021, wherein logo designs were invited from public. An enthusiastic response was received with participations from public and large and post careful evaluation based on various factors namely contemporary nature, simplistic scalable design depicting the true potential of ISM.
The logo design submitted by Mr. Prashant Mishra was considered to be meeting the requisite criteria in the best possible manner. The two hands resemble the mutual cooperation and synergy of the government and manufacturing entities for boosting semiconductor and display manufacturing in India.
The logo adopted by ISM indicates the new vision of India in its journey for becoming a favoured destination and global champion in semiconductor and display manufacturing.
