Unveiling the winning ideas of PMO Mobile App Contest (Phase-I)

01 Apr 2015

MyGov launched the much awaited and exciting contest for the Prime Minister’s Mobile App on 4th March, 2015 in collaboration with Google. Over the period of the Ideation Phase of the contest (Phase-I), which was held between 4th March to 23rd March 2015, over 9,000 entries were received. Most entries had multiple ideas which the contributors suggested for possible inclusion in the app. Therefore, in terms of number of ideas as part of the entries, more than 50,000 ideas were suggested during this phase of the contest.

While judging the entries, it was decided that ideas would be judged on their individual merit alone. The jury took into account the innovation in the idea, description of the idea, popularity of each idea and the implementability of the idea, among other factors, during an extensive review.

It gives us immense pleasure to announce the top 20 entries (total 21 ideas). Read on for a précis of the actual shortlisted ideas that has been selected, along with the names of the twenty winners. Links to pictorial or documentary explanations, which a contributor may have attached as part of their entry to expand on their idea better, have also been listed below each respective winning entry.

Each selected idea, listed below in no particular order, would win an Android One device from Google and a Certificate of Appreciation from MyGov.

2. adithya_2, Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu

#Broadcast – Incase of sensitive central issues like, passing bills that are based on ppl’s sentiments or when gov’t needs to know ppl’s take on the gov’t policies, the app should serve as a polling platform where questions can be put up by the PMO and everyone using the app can vote their wish. The app should be able to mathematically graph the results based on various criteria like region, sector from which various conclusions can be drawn. for eg., government sector of this state upvoted.

3. Umesh Kolhe

#Information – What, How & Why? Should provide crisp and clear understanding of What PMO is all about, How it functions and Why people of India should connect with PMO. Information of sub-departments, it’s officers and their role.

Ideas - PMO Mobile Application

7. I. Jagatheesan Pillai

Idea 01: The App could have a quiz section to keep citizens engaged in the App often and thus receiving important #Broadcast messages. The quiz could be on the topics of recent programs started by PM, their progress, about our constitution etc. Highest scorer of each month could be given a title, say ‘Citizen of the month’ (example) and thus keep people updated on #Information.

Idea 02: It would be a loss to the App if it doesn’t make use of the huge population that India has, to spread out #Broadcast messages coming out of PM’s office like a wildfire. Each broadcast message posted in the App could have a button, say ‘Voice Out!’ Users just hit this button and the message is instantly posted in their respective social networking accounts to help reach the #Information to maximum citizens (this of course will be possible once, users link all their accounts with the App.)

8. Pranav Patade

#information Timeline Feature for ongoing projects, poll, Notification

Donations: The app should provide a simple and easy way of making donations to the Prime Minister’s relief fund. It can be integrated with services like Rupay to easily donate the amount.  #interaction

#Interaction a) An application to collect and poll on topics which can be used for Mann Ki Baat show. PM will interact with the people of India on most voted topics.

11. Vijayalakshmi_3

#Broadcast 6. Based on location of the user give update about any volunteering activity or any such thing happening in his location. Activities like any swach bharath campaign, teaching children from the rural side, providing health camps for poor, donation of blood etc. The location and radius of notification push must be able to be changed by the user. This will help a lot of youth in actually doing the things that will help build the nation when they are shown the right path.

#Information: Personalized information could be shared in this app according to the nature and location of the user. idea from number 2 adithya_2 is a mere copy and rip off of my idea. If he gets selected then this is shamefull. This was supposed to be about celebrating ideas not coping them. A BIG SHAME. If ou guys wanted only likes we could have got u more than 500. This act frmo mygov.in has left me shattered and no more trust left on this website or any schemes from this govt. #SHAME #COPY #PMOAPPContest

Dont act as if you invented the polling system. If OVDV thing is your idea complain if that is stolen. Dont make a fuss here. His idea is different and definitely needs appreciation.

All the submissions are the winners. Thanks for your contribution. Nation Building will require ALL of us..

p.s. On lighter note, consider this: Copying is highest form of flattery. 😉 Not that I am implying anything!

Like Swachha Bharat, there is need for Save Water and Save Food. It will be more effective if our PM will take this topic on man ki bat and also government make it compulsory to show documentary in cinemas as well as in schools, colleges.

All the ideas are very good. The ideas which I liked the most are Polls from people about policies and sensitive issues and regular updates about govt. policies, schemes, announcements etc. I want to suggest that app should be promoted extremely. MoU can be done with Facebook, Google etc for the promotion of MYGOV.

  • Ravi Kumar - 8 years ago

  • Pulkit Bhatnagar - 8 years ago

Brilliant ideas. I hope even the PMO Website (pmindia.gov.in) is also updated along with the APP with same features. It’ll be a path breaking initiative.

The entries which have been accepted for implementation should be acknowledged through mail. This should apply to any idea which is accepted as implementable under mygov under any GROUP to encourage people to come forward with more ideas.
